2008 Men's Open and Masters Bylaws
All Upstate Outdoor Lacrosse League Divisional Games will be governed by NCAA Lacrosse Rules with the following exceptions:
General
All players must provide and wear all required equipment as stated by NCAA Lacrosse Rules.
All players are required to wear their 2008 league issued jerseys to every game.
All goalies must be equipped with a chest protector and throat guard, no exceptions.
All teams must have a minimum of 8 players to avoid a forfeiture.
The UOLL recognizes that playing goal is a specialized position. If a team cannot field a goalie for a scheduled game, the team will be permitted to use a substitute. However, the substitute goalie must be a registred UOLL player. Teams cannot use a substitue goalie for playoff or championship games. Teams found abusing this rule will be assesed a three minute, non-releasable illegal team personnel penalty.
All games will start promptly on the hour. Please plan accordingly and arrive with sufficient time to prepare for play.
Inclement Weather/Field Conditions
If there are any unforeseeable problems with the field(s), a member of the UOLL Board will contact each captain as soon as it is brought to the attention of the league. All scheduled games will then be made up at a later date.
If the weather is obviously dangerous before games begin on scheduled league nights, all captains will be notified, and games will be made up at a later date.
In the case of dangerous weather during play (lightning), league officials will call an officials time out and wait no less then 20 minutes to determine if the game can be continued. If games are unable to be continued they will be made up at a later date.
It is the responsibility of the team captains to notify all their players if a scheduled game is cancelled.
League Play
All games will consist of four 13 minute, running time quarters.
No clearing time limit.
Two minute restraining box rules apply.
Only "on the fly" substitutions are permitted. No sideline horns.
Each team will be awarded 1 timeout per half.
All penalties will be served using stopped time.
If a game ends in a tie, teams will play a sudden death period to determine a winner.
Each team in both divisions will play a regular eight week season. After the eighth week the top 6 teams in each division will advance to a playoff game, winners will play for the championship.
Criteria for determining the top 6 teams is as follows:

Goal Differential
League Policies/Discipline
There is Zero Tolerance policy in effect for all league officials.
Swearing loud enough for others to hear will result in a one minute Unsportsmanlike Conduct penalty.
The Town of Dewitt and UOLL cannot be held liable for any lost, stolen or damaged property.
It is the responsibility of each person entering the park to follow and respect the rules of Maxwell Park as put forth by the Town of Dewitt.
Drug Use and Alcohol Consumption is strictly prohibited anywhere on Maxwell Park grounds. Verbal Referee Confrontations, Fighting and Deliberate Personal Fouls with intent to injure are strictly prohibited. Abuse of officials will absolutely not be tolerated. Any player found in violation of these policies or is deemed impaired by a league official due to drug or alcohol use will result in:
A mandatory 3 minute non-releasable penalty and:
1st Offense - expulsion for the remainder of the existing game and following game.
2nd Offense - expulsion for the remainder of the existing game and following 2 games.
3rd Offense - expulsion from the league.
The UOLL, being the director and Advisory Board, reserves the right to review, modify, and interpret any rule established without prior notice. The Director and/or the Advisory Board will address disputes on a case-by-case basis. Any decision made by the Director/Advisory Board is final.
